Are you trying to get back out running now that the weather is warming up?
We all know we should warm up before we run... But it's so easy not to. I won't say I haven't done this. Maybe you walk for a block or two then start running. Maybe you do a couple squats, touch your toes, jump up and down, then go. Or maybe you run out your front door and just keep on going. There is a better way...
A short but purposeful warmup increases power and strength, reduces risk of injury, and decreases perceived effort during exercise. Pay up front, work harder, run longer, feel better. It's worth it.
Try this routine instead (takes approx 10mins):
Elephant walk x10/side
Hip CARs x5/side
World's greatest stretch x5/side
Leg swings
Forward and backward x10/side
Side to side x10/side
Running progression
25m A-march, walk back
25m slow jog, walk back
25m fast jog, walk back
25m sprint, walk back
Now you're ready to run!
